COMMUNITY NEWS!

BACKPACK BLESSING OPPORTUNITY – Are you the leader of a small group here at the church? Do you work for a company that likes to help the community? If you answered yes to either or both of these questions then we need your help. Weberwood Elementary, in the Fort Hill area of Charleston, has 30 children that are in need of backpack food blessings. The Mission Commission of CCUM has decided to take on feeding these children each week. We will be filling 30 Kroger bags each week with nourishing food to help these children not go hungry over the weekend. We are asking different groups within the church and community to adopt a week to provide food and pack the bags. If your group can not do both, either element is a BIG help. We will also accept monetary donations and someone will shop for you. It costs around $100 to fill 30 bags each week. If your church group or work community would like to participate contact Kathy Chaney at mchainee@aol.com A list of food suggestions for the backpacks can be obtained by contacting Lisa in the church office.
