An important purpose of the United Methodist Women is to participate in the global ministries of the Church. As a community of Christian women, our focus on mission concepts involves education for awareness of human needs, prayer for a caring response, and contribution of resources to help persons in their needs and struggles for wholeness.

The UMW Reception Committee is responsible for wedding receptions, receptions following concerts and community events, birthday parties, anniversary receptions, baby showers, and other meetings held at the church.

 

Susan Courtney Harpold has been chairman of the Reception Committee since 1980. She enjoys making the church hospitable and would love to hear from anyone who would like to help with these special events.

The duty of the Secretary of Program Resources is to order materials for circle leaders suggesting monthly programs, as well as any supplemental materials needed. It is also the responsibility of this officer to review the books offered each year for the UMW Reading Program and to order some for our church library so they are available to all church members.

The Spiritual Growth Chairman provides inspiration and prayer to the UMW and others.

Ways and Means sponsors a Pecan Sale in the fall to financially support the radio broadcasts of worship services. Becky Bumpus will be ordering the pecans.

 

In early October we will be conducting our annual Fall Fair. We ask you to save all your good discards for this effort. We seek good winter clothing, household items, jewelry, furniture and artwork to sell and support UMW charities. Call Nancy Jackson at 342-2993 to participate in this fun event!
