Audio/Visual Ministries
OR "PRESENTATIONAL MINISTRIES"
Christ Church has installed state-of-the-art audio and projection equipment in the Centrum to be used in the 9:00 alternative service and occassionally at the 11:00 traditional service.
Today's society learns visually more than at anytime in history. Dr. Randall Flanagan, Lead Pastor at Christ Church, said, "Screens are the 'stained glass' of our century." Stained glass windows in the chapels, abbeys, and cathedrals of Europe were used to teach scripture, theology and church history to the illiterate people of the Middle Ages. In the 20th century, banners were used as a means of education. Today, projection ministries and the use of screens continue that tradition of education when used in a way that is NOT merely entertainment.
At Christ Church, we are committed to using "Presentational Ministries" (as we call it) in a manner that enhances, not distracts from, the worship of God. We strive to use Presentational Ministries as "a window to another world." Our attention is on God, not our efforts.
A new control "booth" has been constructed in the north balcony above the entrance doors to the Centrum. The new control booth and equipment, when in use, blends seemlessly into the architecture.
THE PROJECTION SCREENS IN THEIR "DOWN" POSITION.
In keeping with the flexibility of the Centrum, the decision was made to place the new projection screens on motors. When in the "down" position, the screens are of the correct size, proportion and placement as to not overwhelm the worship space. When not in use and in the "up" position, they disappear into the ceiling structure of the Centrum and are hidden from view.
