Vocal Ensembles
Children's Vocal Ensembles Jubilate! Children's Choir
This comprehensive children's choir program is open to children preschool-5th grade. Based on the awards-based program offered by the Royal School of Church Music, the two or three choirs (based on the numbers of enrollment) provide the opportunity for education, service, and worship leadership through church music.
The older children's choir participates in a children's choir festival experience every spring. In 2006, they traveled to a choral festival at King's Island where they were given an EXCELLENT rating by judges.
Meets on Sunday afternoon from 5:00-6:15 p.m.
Jubilate! Handbells
Meets Sunday evening from 6:15-7:00 p.m.
Youth Vocal Ensembles The Way!-Worship Arts for Youth
The Way is a youth arts program started in the fall of 2007. The Way! is intended to create an environment in which each youth can explore a God-given talent they already possess and use it in worship thus growing as disciples of Jesus.
Within The Way! is a vocal ensemble open to all youth 6th-12th grade. The Way! meets every Sunday afternoon from 5:00-6:15 p.m. prior to United Methodist Youth Fellowship. For more information, click here.
Adult Vocal Ensembles
The Chancel Choir
The Chancel Choir is the service choir for the traditional 11:00 worship service held in the Centrum. The choir was honored in 2006 when they were selected, by audition, to perform at the Southern Division Conference of the American Choral Directors Association. The choir loves to travel and in the past 10 years, have given 3 choir tours to England & Scotland. The choir has also sung in Washington National Cathedral and has made 2 professional recordings. In 2009, the choir was the featured group at the state convention of the WV American Choral Directors Association. In that same year, the choir also sang for the inauguration of West Virginia governor, Gov. Joe Manchin, III.
The Chancel Choir has prepared extended choral works with orchestral accompaniment that include "Requiem" settings by both Gabriel Faure and John Rutter. The choir has also performed the "Solemn Mass" by Louis Vierne. In 2006, the choir was the first in West Virginia to present, "The Armed Man-A Mass for Peace" by Karl Jenkins, which is currently the most popular new, large-scale choral work in Europe.
The Wesley Choir
The Wesley Choir is the service choir for the traditional 9:45 worship service held in the chapel. This choir sings two Sundays per month.
The AWEnsemble
This instrumental/vocal ensemble is the group that plays for the 9:00 Alternative Worship Experience (AWE)
