Ashley Wood, Director of Children's & Youth Ministry

Children’s & Youth Ministry

Hello. I am Ashley Wood the Director of Children’s and Youth Ministries. I joined the Christ Church team in May of 2023. I am a resident of Point Pleasant, WV with my husband Jimmie and daughter Taylor. My son Jimmie III lives in Washington DC as a member of the U.S. Air Force. I have worked in children’s ministries for 17 years. My journey began in 2006 when I began helping with my son’s cub scout den. I spent the next 15 years with my church’s scouting programs working with boys and girls of all ages including Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, and Venture Crew. During that time, I was also a volunteer and leader with the Children’s Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, Upwards Basketball and all other children’s ministries at the church. I became a youth leader at Trinity UMC in 2014, with a very active mission and service minded group. I hope to bring that same heart and mind for children and service to Christ Church.

If you have any questions or would like to reach out to me, please send an email to me at ashley@ccumwv.org, or call 304-342-0192 Ext. 205. I look forward to hearing from you.

Christ Church Youth Mission Trip

The CCUM Youth Group went on their annual Mission Trip to Pikeville, KY this July. The group helped with many tasks for area residents, from finishing drywall, to painting a deck and playground, to helping with the community pregnancy center, as well as with an outreach group that provided household supplies to those in need.

Each evening the group worshiped with other mission groups from all over the country – from Washington State, upper Pennsylvania and Georgia.

The CCUM Youth group is mission orientated, and plans to do monthly mission projects in the Charleston area, and we are already planning the 2024 Mission Trip. If you are interested in joining the CCUM Youth and are in 6th-12th grade, we invite you to out weekly meetings. We meet Sundays at 5:00pm at the Church.
